Mitch Mitchell dies at age 61

Filed under: Latest News, video — John - drums @ 9:46 am

Mitch Mitchell: July 9, 1947 - November 12, 2008
Mitch Mitchell, the British drummer in the seminal 1960s band the Jimi Hendrix Experience, has been found dead in his US hotel room, authorities say.

The 61-year-old was discovered in the Benson Hotel in Portland, Oregon, in the early hours of Wednesday.

I know he was one of my drumming idols and most definitely one of the greatest and most influential rock drummers of the 1960s.
Check out this video of Mitch performing a drum solo in 1969 with the Jimi Hendrix Experience.

September…

Filed under: Latest News — John - drums @ 11:55 am

Well, it’s September and we have a few weeks off from playing out, so I thought I’d just fill you in on what we’re up to.

First off I want to apologize for the last minute cancellation of our Music on the Market performance. The rain was coming down pretty steadily that morning, and we made the judgment call to keep our equipment safe and dry. I heard that we had some folks out there asking about us, so thank you for coming out to see us, and I’m sorry we couldn’t be there.

Still working on the album. We have some tracks to lay down and then we’ll move on to the mix-down. After that we master it all and release it. We’re looking to have the project finished by the end of the year. I’ll do my best to update you all periodically until it’s released. We’re also in the brainstorming/planning stages of the CD release party, so if you have any ideas let us know.

The new drumkit is fantastic and I plan on bringing it out to our next performance; which will be at Reds Wines & Blues on October 18th. This is a chill environment with great food and drinks.

We’re also getting geared up for our Halloween show at the Brambleton Deli in Roanoke. You don’t want to miss this event… come party with us on Halloween in style - and don’t forget to wear a costume!

That’s all for now, but check back often for more news and current events!
